A day in the Life of Claire

This spot is dedicated to the preparation and life of Claire Cox. Claire has been diagnosed with Trisomy 18, which is a genetic disease caused by an extra chromosome at the 18th spot. We know that God can cure Claire at any time, and continue to pray for this; however we also know that His Will, will be done!

Today, we are preparing to do what we never planned on doing, take sweet Claire home. Since we hadn't planned on this, we had not bought the usual "coming home" outfit. We had however, been given a beautiful dress for her to be buried in. It suddenly dawned on us, we already had her "COMING HOME" outfit, she may just get to wear it twice.

This is really a new beginning in our Cox Family Journey. Last night we were trying to come up with a "Coming Home Plan Of Action". Please understand, to us, and sometimes maybe only to us, Claire is nothing but a positive element in our household. Coming home brings up so many concerns, fears, and whole new set of worries, but ultimately none are to difficult for where our faith lies.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Claire's joining the Cox family at home is such a joy that comes only from our Heavenly Father above, and HE will provide you with that strength and grace to take care of her in her new home. We love you guys and pray for you as you go home and introduce Claire into your fulfilled lives. Enjoy and cherish each moment with her. We are so thankful that God has allowed you this time with her. Little Miss Camille will certainly show her the ropes, if she hasn't already.

    Much love from...

    Billy and Tammy,

I Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it”.
The way out is the way through – with Him.
It is so encouraging to read your heart’s intention in meeting this test -- that you have sought God not as a way out, but, as He promised to be, the Way through this difficult valley. Philip Yancey shared a great illustration of how God’s way is not out, but through. Oceanographers spend big money on hydrospheres equipped with thick armor plating and even thicker Plexiglas viewing windows to withstand the enormous crushing pressure of thousands of feet of water. But what they saw when the lights shown delicate fish were effortlessly swimming outside. How is that possible? Simply this – the pressure on the inside of the delicate fish was equal to that on the outside.
So it is with a genuine Christian. The mystery of the Gospel goes beyond the mere facts of Jesus becoming our sacrifice for our sin and being resurrected to prove it, but that He comes to take up permanent residence inside us by His Spirit. Christ in you the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27 “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”).
Paul explains how this works in trials and temptations in Romans 5:1-5. And it sounds much like what you are expressing in your email. He actually shares a recipe for rejoicing in testing. God makes this great deposit into our life when we are converted through repentance and faith. The reality of that hidden deposit show up when the dark and hard times come and we, instead of demanding the “easy button” way out, find Him sustaining us from the inside so we can go through it with Him and instead of just going through it we are growing through it – seeing His character show up in our character – a character that’s just not natural optimism, but His supernatural presence. This infuses us with even more hope – not a mere wish for a positive outcome. No, this is an expectant confidence because we know through testing that God has actually shown up – NO! Better than that! He has moved in and set up house in us proving it by pouring out His love through our heart by His Spirit. You can’t have this type of proof without these tribulations. The times we have known His presence and closeness and the closeness to each other have been singularly these times of testing.
Our prayer is to hold you up before the “One who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us to Him be glory” Eph 3:20–21.
You two are pure pleasure to know and we are thankful you are allowing us to tag along on this journey. Thank you for the joy you bring to our lives. We wait with anticipation for the joy Claire will bring – no matter how long or short that may be.

    Much love and prayers,
    Brian, Freida & Sandi

Going home. You can do it. It's better at home. We're so thrilled for you all. Look, we both now know that miracles do happen, but Ark beating Auburn, there's even more proof.
Claire will be beautiful in red. Eliot said he may even jump into some blue & orange just for kicks.

It has been our joy to bring up our email and see the updates on beautiful Claire. What a precious gift she is and I'm so thankful she has the two of you, and your family as well, to be with. Thank you for the "blog" site and for how it allows us to participate without intruding on your family time together. As for your extended family, we would all call each other when there was an update to see if the other knew about it as well. Thanks for the automatic feature -- it's great.

Prayers are continuing on your behalf, so please continue to let us know specifically what her little needs are, as well as yours and Tammy's. People who have never met you are caring deeply about Claire and are sending God their petitions on her behalf.

We truly love you and will continue to watch and pray. Love ~Freida
